SO FRENCHY

Claudalie Micellar Cleansing Water

Micellar cleansing water should be in everyone's skincare arsenal as it removes make up, dirt, oil and grime without the need to rinse off, simply pop on a cotton wool and swipe away. Lazy girls rejoice! Thanks to the French for this 90s skincare creation (apparently as an antidote to the country's harsh and skin-damaging water), micellar simply refers to its ingredient of micelles (microscopic oil spheres) that attract and dissolve surface impurities. I love this one from Claudelie for its delicate fresh scent and the convenience of the pump, which can be locked for travel.

Lancôme Advanced Génifique Eye Cream

I'm sort of new to eye creams, which is shocking as 1) I'm a beauty product fiend and understand the importance of using eye cream and 2) I ain't no spring chicken anymore so yes, I should be slathering the stuff on. Let's just put it down to having never found one I liked enough to add a WHOLE extra step to my skincare regime, until this little beauty landed in my beauty drawer and now I'm very committed to the cause. Super lightweight with its gel-like texture and the most subtle, barely-there floral fragrance, this gem sinks right in and helps to de-puff and treat fine lines and dark circles, a godsend the morning after yet another bar crawl.

Diptyque Candle in Baies

I didn't actually take this one travelling with me but wish I could have. One of Diptyque's bestselling scents, seducing the senses with a bouquet of blackcurrant leaves and Bulgarian rose. I can't get enough of it and just might invest in the travel pack, so that my Airbnb bedroom can smell just as good as at home.

La Roche-Posay Uvidea XL Aqua Fresh Gel 50+ spf

I've searched high and low for a facial sunscreen that doesn't clog my pores and lead me to break out all over in these tiny little bumps. When travelling to Hong Kong earlier this year, I spotted this product at a local Watsons pharmacy. A few things on the packaging ticked my "dream sunscreen" boxes: the fact that it is a gel and not a thick cream ideal for combination/oily skin types, that it offers a high protection of 50+ spf and helps prevent hyperpigmentation, that it's non-greasy and sticky, suitable for hot climates and works as a make-up base, oh and it's white in colour but doesn't leave a ghosting effect, but above all I was sold on the fact that it had been tested on sensitive Asian skin. Perhaps this was my answer to bump-free holiday skin! And yes, I can report that all claims have been delivered and pesky breakouts have been kept at bay throughout my entire trip. This is a definite repurchase.

Avène Eau Thermale 50mL

A travel essential for much-needed hydration and refreshment, whilst on the plane, beach, air-conditioned hotel rooms and everywhere in between. I adore the super fine mist that never moves my make-up and leaves a natural dewy finish (great for tender sunburnt skin too!). I was very tempted to purchase a couple of large 300mLs bottles, but my 15kg luggage restriction had me doing otherwise. Boo.
