As a beauty aficionado, trialling and reviewing new beauty products is a favourite past time of mine. From the thrill of unwrapping beautifully packaged products and sniffing them like a puppy to swatching new lipsticks, eyeshadows, blushes, creams and lotions till my hands (and arms) look like a painter's palette, needless to say it gets my heart racing. So along with our new look blog, I have sworn to do more beauty reviews and rants about new products that come into my possession along with old, tried and true favourites.
So without further ado, first up is this lovely trio of products I received recently from Recreate Yourself - Australia's largest online haircare & beauty store. Honestly this site is a one-stop shop for all your beauty needs whether it be everyday essentials or treating yo self with some luxe splurges. With so many of my favourite brands in the one place, it's claimed a spot on my bookmarks bar.
A lovely creamy full coverage BB cream with sun protection that packs a punch. It helps to even out enlarged pores, blemishes, redness, pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles. With my combination skin, I find it mattifies oilier areas so would advise those with drier skin types to moisturise or use a hydrating primer prior to application. A little goes a long way so no need to be heavy handed, I like to apply with my Beauty Blender or even just fingers to achieve a flawless finish. Due to it's high coverage, I've been using it for work but mixed with my everyday moisturiser, it becomes a great lightweight weekend option. Being mineral based, it's perfect for sensitive skin and is hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic and dermatologist tested. Tick, tick, tick!
I've been a balyage-r for a long time now, and with this my ends have become quite dry, brittle and lacklustre. To counteract this, I always use a heavy duty hair mask in place of conditioner, applying only throughout my ends and not roots because hello grease fest. I was really excited to try this evo hair mask because not only do I love their tongue-in-cheek packaging but I have used a few of their products and have always been pleased with the results. This mask is no exception. Nice, thick consistency with the same yummy candy-like fragrance that I know and love. My hair has certainly felt softer, more manageable with added shine.
I really enjoy using organic skincare products but for some reason have never tried anything from Miranda Kerr's skincare line, KORA, which is all certified organic. Perhaps it's because I tend to shy away from celebrity owned and endorsed beauty brands, but I'm glad I got the chance to try this rather dreamy exfoliator. Extra brownie points are awarded for its creamy texture, its use of organic oat flour and bamboo as the mechanical exfoliants rather than plastic microbeads (harmful for marine wildlife = big no no) and it's delicious 'I'm-at-a-day-spa' scent thanks to various essential oils. Results are visible too, my skin looks much brighter having only used it for a couple of weeks, every second day. Suitable for both the face and body which me likey, a lot.
